Dog Easter Basket Inspiration

Stephanie’s mom made Easter an extra special holiday for her as a kid, and to this day, Easter remains one of Stephanie’s favorites! Carefully crafted decorations and Easter baskets sparked sheer delight in Stephanie as a child and continue to serve as a beautiful memory bank that she still draws from today, along with an absolutely unbridled excitement for all things spring!

Today, Stephanie talks to the source of her inspiration... her mom! The two discuss the magic of Easter and what Stephanie’s mom is putting in the dogs' Easter baskets this year.

Stephanie and her mom on Easter Morning

Stephanie: What do you love about Easter?

Mom: I love the colors, and I love the freshness that comes with it! Daffodils are a favorite flower of mine and a sign of looking forward to nicer weather, winter’s end, and being outside.

Stephanie and the Easter Bunny

S: You always made Easter so extremely special for me, and I look forward to it to this day. Why was it important to you to create this special set of memories for me?

M: It is a holiday that is easy to have fun with! Easter is associated with baby chicks, flowers, and candy (hahahaha). There's a lot to work with, and it is all adorable. It is hard NOT to have fun with it. I wanted EVERY holiday to be over the top for you so you could have maximum fun! It is the first big family holiday after Christmas, so it was always such a fun get-together. My brothers and sisters and all of your cousins got together at Gram’s and had an egg hunt.

S: Let's talk about this year's special project! In the absence of grandkids, there are grand pups! So I asked you to put together Easter baskets for your dog, Chichi, and our dogs, Papi and Penny. Let’s go one by one and talk about what's in them and why you created each one special for each pup.

Chichi’s Basket

I chose the Garden Bucket Bag for him because he LOVES smelling flowers. He puts his nose in and takes big whiffs and takes his time enjoying them.

What’s Inside:

The Coral & Tusk tabby cat pouch and lucky frog pouch. His little froggy toy, it was one of the first toys that I got him, which he loves! A Coral & Tusk bunny pin. Local Wyoming dog treats called “Brother Bear Treats" that I bought at the local produce store, Mountain Fresh Produce

We see a few themes in Chichi’s basket...

LUCK Lucky horseshoe treats and a lucky frog pouch because our dogs are very lucky and we are VERY lucky to have them!

CATS He loves cats because most of them are the same size he is!

FROGS I have a thing with frogs. I do not think it is the animal I most relate to, but I definitely have a connection to frogs. I will see a frog anywhere I go, even when it is an extremely unlikely environment to see a frog. Frogs find me!

Papi’s Basket

I chose the Easter Parade Basket for him because he is tiny, and all of the little animals on it are tiny and miniature. It just seemed to suit him.

What’s Inside:

These special dog treats are in the little Secret Garden Drawstring bag. Again, I love the scale of all these details and sweet animal scenes for him. Yellow bandana with the little tiny Coral & Tusk bear with the horseshoe pin. A tiny ducky (a favorite toy of his when he visits me) is holding his “lucky dog” dog treat.

Penny’s Basket

I chose the Easter Friends Basket because it is the biggest one, and she is a big girl! And I love the bunny pompom tails for her.

What’s Inside:

Tabby Cat Pillow: We do not know if she is good with cats or not, so this is to help her get used to them so she will be sweet and friendly with them. A turquoise blue bandana because I thought it would look very pretty with her copper fur.

A little felted fox I made for her. I have never felted anything before and was so excited to find this at our local craft shop, Pinedale Arts & Crafts. I chose the fox for her because she is quiet and swift, like a very sly fox when she wants to be. The first time she stayed with me, I left the room for a second, and when I walked back into the kitchen, she had done some counter surfing and knocked off baking sheets full of freshly roasted vegetables and gobbled them up!

And of course, a Coral & Tusk Papi Pin since that is her new brother!
