Donation Pledge: Invest in Communities
Over the next eight weeks, we are pledging to donate a total of $12,000.00 to organizations and funds that are fighting for racial justice and equity. Each of our employees will have the opportunity to select an organization that they feel strongly about. We will donate $1,500.00 each week and will be sharing where we are donating on the blog and on Instagram, so you can learn more about each organization and have the opportunity to donate directly.
This week we are kicking off our donation pledge by contributing to our local community fund. We will be donating $1,500.00 to Brooklyn Community Foundation’s COVID-19 Response Fund, you can donate directly here. Founded in 2009, Brooklyn Community Foundation is the first and only public foundation solely dedicated to Brooklyn’s charitable community, working in partnership with generous donors and community leaders to bolster vital nonprofits, strengthen neighborhoods, and increase opportunities for youth.

People of color represent nearly 70% of all Brooklyn’s residents, yet there are significant racial disparities in the distribution of resources and opportunities in our communities. The Brooklyn Community Foundation works to fund high impact nonprofits working towards racial and social justice through strategic initiatives across Brooklyn.
In response to the escalating impact of coronavirus, the Brooklyn Community Foundation’s COVID-19 Response Fund rapidly deploys much-needed resources. The fund focuses on local organizations who are working at the frontlines to provide health, economic, and social services for communities disproportionately affected by coronavirus, especially communities of color. The Brooklyn Community Foundation is already in the process of issuing grants from the COVID-19 relief fund, you can view those projects here.
Community Foundations are grant-making public charities that are dedicated to improving the lives of people in a defined local geographic area. They bring together the financial resources of individuals, families, and businesses to support effective nonprofits in their communities. Learn more about Community Foundations on the Council of Foundations website and find your local Community Foundation here.
