Festive Fall Tabletop

We absolutely love to entertain here at Coral & Tusk and from throwing studio shindigs to large dinner parties, we wanted to share our our favorite ways to celebrate with friends and family. For our fall festivities, setting a beautiful table helps to create an inviting space for good conversation and delicious food.

Feathers Table Runner

Choosing the menu and the atmosphere of the party is a perfect place to start because it makes the larger decisions for how to set your table fall into place. For any table setting, we like to first spread out the table runner or table cloth and keep layering until it feels good! Begin with your linens, then decide your dinnerware setting layout depending on what you’re serving. If you’re sharing appetizers and drinks, keep it simple and buffet style with dessert plates, vintage cheese knives, serving spoons and cocktail napkins. fallgif_lowres Homecoming Collection For a more formal sit down meal, you can set the napkins on top of the plates, which acts as a beautiful focal point when using embroidered linens, or to the left of the dinner plate. 071115-69

Feather Table Decor We love mixing with pattern and color, but simplicity can be just as striking! Place the napkins out and play with the arrangement of those before moving on to the silverware. Next comes dishes, and then special decorative extras or name settings. For the fall season we always pull out our tipis, and with a tea light they create a nice glow and ambiance for the table. Although we love to make it to a good flower market, you can also garnish the table with items you have around you. Sprigs of rosemary or pinecones are perfect and easy additions while brass candleholders and objects such as these deer and shimmering moon charms from Great Lake Goods add a stylish and fun touch. 071115-70

We have two styles of dinner napkins and love to use on their own and mixed for variety. Our dinner napkin size is a  20” x 20” hemmed square folded into a 10 x 10” diamond shape. This is perfect to lay out as is and display the embroidery, or you can add a napkin ring as well. With the geometric styles, easily fold them over again for a slim rectangle as a second option.

There are many different ways to fold our napkins depending on your table style! Below we've showed an example of our Feather Fan Dinner napkin folded over in a diamond, in half as a rectangle or open to show the full design.

We are also huge fans of using tea towels as napkins. They are a generous size, perfect to mix and match with and make a great hostess gift!

Our Plants Table Runner with coordinating Thistle and Poppy dinner napkins is a great year round piece since the botanical embroidery has subtle colors to take you through the seasons. For fall, dress it up with small bundles of tied herbs and formal silverware.

Another favorite for fall, our Feathers Table Runner has a rich and sophisticated palette that layers beautifully with neutral or metallic dinnerware.

Our Feathers Border fabric is ideal to turn into a tablecloth specified to your size. We use the solid linen in the middle of the fabric to create a center panel and easily expand to the width needed. Perfect for the gathering of friends and family, our Homecoming Table Runner works wonderfully at Thanksgiving. Woodland animals elk, bear, baby bear, and fox come together to share and celebrate! Wheat and mixed feathers border the edges to decorate with warmth, collective spirit and abundance. This year, we brought a new friend to the table, Pinecone Bison Dinner Napkin. There are so many different ways to set the table with Homecoming and bring out the beauty in this pattern.

For a sophisticated setting, we layered our Slate Striae Linen fabric as a tablecloth with the Homecoming Tablerunner on top, set out the Pinecone Bison and Homecoming Elk dinner napkins with Feathers cocktail napkins and rose gold silverware. 071714-14

To make an eclectic tabletop, we emphasized the bright blue of this playful china pattern against our warmly toned embroidery stitches on the Homecoming Table Runner all set on top of a kantha stitched indigo tablecloth. 071115-74

For a great buffet layout, we went traditional and decorated with brass candle holders, pinecones, a rustic cutting board and forest green garland.

We styled these two ways to work our sweet grass pattern, and can't decide which wins!  Part of our recently launched Winds collection, Sweetgrass captures the natural display of pattern created by movement and energy when the wind whips the grasses around and around. To the left, Sweetgrass Sand is a gorgeous neutral starting point with varied stitching to add depth and texture. Shown here with an added pop of color from our feather fan dinner napkin and modern rose gold silverware. At right, Sweetgrass Slate can sit on your table all year, but looks particularly sharp and sophisticated shown here with speckled stoneware plates, rose gold silverware, Kit Love Tea Towel and  Pheasant Feather Dinner Napkin

To create this super bright and festive table setting, at left, we layered our custom all-over large feather Plumes tablecloth with Feather Fan Dinner Napkins, Rose Gold Silverware, stoneware plates and a Fox Love Tea Towel to top it off.

Shown above, our Ridgeline Onyx Fabric is richly embroidered and highlighted by metallic threads. Here, as a table runner, it makes a chic and cool holiday tablescape. Bring it into fall by pairing with our Owl and Pheasant dinner napkins with a pop of fun from our chipmunk tea towel. We would love to see what you create with our embroidered textiles and table decor!!
