It's that time again.... Five Favorite Things! In this month's round-up of recommendations from our staff, we share what we're reading, watching, cooking and more! We also have a special SIXTH favorite thing for the month of October.
“The Great British Bake Off on Netflix is back for it’s 11th Series. Dedicated bakers and hosts filmed the competition this summer and quarantined to do so. I look forward to every season, but was especially grateful to have the joy it brings back this Fall. It’s honestly such a delightful, genuine show. I try and always bake something to go along with it. Recently I made lemon bars. If you have a New York TimesCooking subscription this Lemon Bars with Olive Oil and Sea Salt recipe by Melissa Clark is great, I also love this one (and everything honestly) by Deb Perelman at Smitten Kitchen.” - Alija
"My friend introduced me to these incredible beeswax candles! TaperFreak, I love when inanimate things have a bit of personality.” - Jess
“I just re-subscribed to the New Yorker. I get overwhelmed with listening to the news (my husband is a political news junkie) and was feeling hamstrung and not well rounded, so after several years I renewed my subscription to the New Yorker, based on being enticed by some phenomenally interesting titles and quick views from their Instagram feed. Also looking forward to holding a magazine to read!” - Stephanie
Another magazine subscription we’re recommending this month, House Beautiful! Subscribe to the digital edition and receive the November issue featuring Stephanie’s home!
Amá Dóó Álchíní Bíghan (ADABI) Healing Center is a private, non-profit, community based domestic violence and sexual assault crisis intervention and prevention program. ADABI provides advocacy, prevention, and a safe home network. ADABI serves victims and survivors of intimate partner violence in the Chinle Agency and surrounding areas of the Navajo Nation. “I’m learning how to convert my greenhouse into an indoor chicken coop, build an outdoor chicken coop (that can hold a snow load) and learning how to raise chickens! I had no idea there were so many kinds of chickens! Already looking forward to collecting their feathers too! Hopefully my Five Favorite Things for November will include EGGS!” - Stephanie
And our SIXTH favorite thing...
