Coral & Tusk Chronicles: Badges
In order to make room for new designs, we have to let some go. Discontinuing products is always bittersweet! This summer, we're saying goodbye to our beloved badge pins. Today we're sharing the history of our signature badges and medals as we say goodbye to them.
Our badges are embroidered on white felt and sewn to faux leather, but they first began as embroidery on brightly colored felt! The imaginative accessories were inspired by Stephanie's Girl Scout badges from her childhood and vintage patches.

Our first felt gift collection from 2011, when we first introduced our badges. Second row, from left to right: Panda, Sloth, Red Panda, Tamarin Monkey and Fox. The very first badges and medals!
Our badges and medals soon became one of our most iconic designs! Appearing in Vogue in 2013, and other publications including Martha Stewart Living and Country Living. We also started embroidering our badge designs on pillows, cards, and fabric by the yard.
Our Bunny and Fox badges appeared in the pages of the August 2013 issue of Vogue.
We created the "Champs" design featuring our embroidered badges on fabric. Champs was available as a pillow, card and fabric by the yard. In 2015 we upholstered this rocking chair with Champs for One Kings Lane.

Other highlights included collaborations with John Derian and French jeweler Titlee. We saw our badges come to life as decoupaged plates and gold-plated accessories. Our most recent badge collaboration was with illustrator Yoriko Hoshi, creator of Nekomura san.

We created a Nekomura san badge as part of our Coral & Tusk X Nekomura san collaboration collection in 2021!
Since their inception, Stephanie has drawn up many animals for our badges including her beloved dog Paco. Above are a few of the animals we've made as badges over the years.
We love these fun accessories and will truly miss them, but we're also so excited about what's next!
