Five Favorite Things | September 2022
Fall is here and we're easing into the new season! Need a good read for the cozy season? We have a few suggestions! Along with other recommendations from our team. Read on!
“I started following the Feminist Bird Club, a birding group that has chapters all across the world. They recently hosted a fantastic zoom lecture by author Merilyn Simonds on her book Woman, Watching about the history of naturalist Louise de Kiriline Lawrence and women in Ornithology in the late 1800s to early 1900s. I downloaded the free library app Libby and have been reading it and the fascinating history of how amateur birders contributed vast amounts of data and research to the field even while being snubbed by scientific communities.” - Lynsey
“NYC Microseasons is a weekly newsletter cataloging the “natural and unnatural shifts” found in New York City. If you’re a New Yorker or have spent any amount of time in the city, you may delight in this project as much as I do! I love seeing these emails in my inbox every week. This week’s edition about the light in Autumn was especially beautiful. If you’re not ready to say goodbye to summer the August 18th edition about “feral gardens” is a great place to start.” - Alicia
“Embarking on home brewing Kombucha! I purchased my SCOBY from Kombucha Kamp. I’m enjoying learning all about the process and the many benefits of incorporating several servings of fermented foods into my daily diet.” - Stephanie
“The Cactus Store NYC outpost is closing for the season on October 2nd and everything will be on sale starting this weekend. Bye to summer :'(” - Jess
