Year in Review 2024

We’re looking back at this year with gratitude and awe! 2024 was a year like no other: We published our first book with Rizzoli, sent over 7,260 packages to 30 countries, and our products were stocked in 270 independently owned boutiques. We couldn’t have done any of this without your support. THANK YOU! We're reviewing a few of our favorite moments from the past twelve months, and sharing what we’re looking forward to in 2025.

We kicked off 2024 with new Valentine’s Day additions! Over the years, we’ve had so much fun bringing you new love designs to celebrate Valentine’s. 2024 was no different, we introduced our heart-shaped totes and the Home is Where the Heart is design.

In Japan, National Cat Day is celebrated on February 22. This day was selected because the date in Japanese resembles the words "nyan nyan nyan"  which is the same as “meow meow meow” in the United States. We celebrated Japan’s National Cat Day with a special collaboration with Orne de Feuilles, we created an exclusive cat bed! The bed was launched only in Japan on 2/22, and it’s been such a joy to see this special design out in the world!

Easter came early this year, and we were ready with a new bunny basket complete with a pompom tail! When the winter finally began to thaw, our team headed out to California to photograph our new Desert and Coastal collections. We found the perfect setting for capturing our new designs, the location had both ocean views and an agave grove.

For April Fools’ Day, we announced that we would be changing our designs to include “hand-crafted” plastic googly eyes. In case you missed it, we were joking! Thank you to everyone who laughed along with us, we promise to give you a break on April 1st, 2025.

In April, we also re-released beloved Wolf designs for a limited time (Wolf Portrait pillow and Wolf Pocket Doll) in an effort to raise money for the Humane Society Legislative Fund (HSLF). We were moved to contribute to HSLF after learning of a heinous act of animal cruelty against a wolf in the county where Stephanie lives. On Giving Tuesday of this year, we donated 100% of the profits from the two wolf designs to HSLF for a total gift of $7,500.00. Read more about our Wolf donation pledge here.

We were also thrilled to spot our pillows in not one, but TWO, beautifully decorated children’s rooms in the pages of Architectural Digest. In the April 2024 issue, our Stargazers Pocket Pillow made an appearance in a space designed by Commune Design. In the May 2024 issue, the Snow Day Pocket Pillow, Forest Fun Pillow, and Scouter Pillow appeared in a bedroom in Emma Roberts’ home designed by Pierce & Ward.

This spring marked the introduction of our book! In Stitches: The Enchanted World of Coral & Tusk opened for pre-orders in May 2024.

This summer, we produced two photoshoots! We worked with photographer Will Ellis to capture our 秋のコレクション and Holiday collection at the Upstate Stone House in the Catskills. Stephanie welcomed the North Sea Air team and photographer Martin Scott Powell to her home in Wyoming to photograph her studio and lifestyle.

We also introduced new products in the summer including Coastal tissue box covers, including our first-ever rectangular tissue box cover. The Goodnight Fox pocket pillow and Chickadee of Cheer felt bird also joined the line.

Stephanie also created three, limited-edition decorative houses. These special houses are unique objects that won’t be restocked! The Halloween House flew off the shelf, the Mushroom House and Guest set was featured in New York magazine’s holiday gift guide, and the Christmas Chalet rounds out the trio which also sold out! Thank you to everyone who championed this new, sculptural foray!

Fall was a banner season for Coral & Tusk! Our book, In Stitches: The Enchanted World of Coral & Tusk was released on September 24th, 2024. We celebrated the book with a launch party at the Roll + Hill showroom in downtown Manhattan. Stephanie created three new original paintings for the event and exhibited her original drawings and collages in a special show at Roll + Hill. You can visit the Roll + Hill showroom in NYC to view Stephanie’s drawings, paintings, and large-scale embroidered birds.

Stephanie was also graciously hosted by John Derian, who wrote the foreword for In Stitches, for her first book signing at his Dry Goods shop in the East Village. This was a dream come true moment! We then exhibited at the 10th annual Field + Supply. Stephanie had a book signing and hosted an embroidery workshop over the festive weekend upstate.

After visiting New York for the book launch, Stephanie embarked on a California book tour! Sue Fisher King and her team invited Stephanie to their beautiful shop in San Francisco for a very special book signing, The Gardener in Berkeley welcomed Stephanie to sign books in their gorgeous storefront, and Folly Home created an inspiring environment for a day-long book event in Santa Barbara. Stephanie’s last book signing of the year was at The Workshop in Jackson Hole, WY.

We also felt incredibly lucky to have the book noted in gift guides from Oprah Daily, Martha Stewart, and Elle Decor this holiday season. Thank you to everyone who attended a event and purchased a copy of our book. It was a joy to meet you!

In addition to our book launch, we also launched three new collections! Autumn Blossoms and Pumpkins, Halloween, and Holiday. We meet about design concepts for our Fall-Holiday collection about a year in advance. Stephanie’s creative process involves many steps, so we look forward to when we get to share the final pieces with you for the holiday season!

We wrapped up the year by collaborating with the Japanese lifestyle magazine Liniere to create a limited edtion 2025 postcard calendar featuring our original designs drawn from our embroidered cards. The calendar was packaged in a beautiful collectible tin and included miniature stationery. The magazine also featured our holiday collection and a short interview with Stephanie.

Thank you for cheering us on this year! It was a BIG one for us and we’re so grateful to everyone who placed an order, our wholesale stockists who carried our products in their beautiful shops, and everyone who has followed along! We are really looking forward to the year ahead and already have some very exciting things planned for 2025. We will be introducing new collaborations, updating our website, returning to tradeshows and visiting JAPAN!

From all of us at Coral & Tusk, happy holidays to you and yours, and we wish you all the best in the new year.
